Sunday Smoothie: Papaya banana

Earlier this day I wrote a blogpost for Cakes and Pumps with a Mango Coconut milk smoothie. This smoothie was so good, I really enjoyed that one. But the other smoothie that I choose for Cakes and Pumps today is nothing special. I do like papaya and also banana and orange juice. But combined it wasn’t anything special. It wasn’t so bad that I didn’t drink it, but I don’t think I will make this one again. Read further about this papaya banana smoothie.

The habit of making smoothies every Sunday, for 8 weeks now, feels very good. Last couple of weeks we had a lot of social events like dinners and parties on saturdays. And most of the time we say to each other that we will go home early and don’t drink too much;-). Mostly with the drinks we are doing fine, at least one of us has to drive home, and the other one doesn’t want to be a total wreck the next day. Haha but specially the late nights are a real killjoy on Sunday. So drinking Smoothies makes me feel better and more healthy and makes me forget my low energy levels. And if the smoothies are so nice as the Cakesandpumps smoothie for Sunday Smoothie, then Yummie. But not the one with the papaya…
It started with the papaya that we found in the supermarket yesterday. It was the only one and it looked all right, but this morning it looked a little bit more brown on one side. We cut half of the papaya in pieces for the smoothie, the taste of the papaya was still oke. And also a banana was cut into pieces.
For the orange juice, I bought a bottle of freshly made orange juice in the supermarket. They have those machines nowadays, were you can fill your orange juice in a bottle. This orange juice is freshly made when you push the button. Only we think these machine press so much juice out of the orange, that you also have some flavors of the peel in your juice. So the taste of the orange juice was too strong and too sour in the papaya banana smoothie, we didn’t taste papaya and banana at all, only thick orange juice.

I know not every smoothie that we try will be nice and this is definitely one that I don’t like. But everyone’s taste is different, so maybe you will find this an absolute delicious smoothie. Just try it and you will know. Only take your own freshly made orange juice, I think that tastes much better!

The Recipe:

Sunday Smoothie: Papaya banana

Cakesandpumps
A smoothie with papaya, banana and orange juice and a little ginger. Try to use fresh orange juice that you made yourself.
Servings 1

Equipment

  • Blender

Ingredients

  • 300 gram Papaya Fresh or Frozen
  • 1 Banana
  • 200 ml Orange juice
  • Lemon juice of 1 lemon
  • Gingerpowder or freshly rasped Ginger

Instructions

  • Peel the papaya and cut it into pieces.
  • Do the same with the banana.
  • Put it all in the blender, together with the orange juice.
  • Rasp some ginger, I took half of a teaspoon, but didn’t taste a lot of it because of the very strong orange juice taste. Just start with some, you can always add more.
  • Blender everything until you have a smooth mix.
  • Put the mix into a glass. For decoration you can use some papaya, or leave the glass empty.
  • The papaya banana Smoothie is finished!
