Groeten en Fruit – Asis Fruitswagen in Curacao

It’s been some time since I made a Blogpost about Curacao, while I do have a lot more to show you of the island, where we’ve been and what great places they have to eat. So it’s time to write some more Blogposts.
Every day when we drove back to our appartment at Jan Thiel baai, we came by this funny fruit wagon, called Asis Fruitswagen. It has this funny thing on it with Groeten en Fruit. Whiche means Greetings and Fruit. But in Dutch you see a lot Groenten en Fruit (so with an extra n at Groeten, and then it means vegetables). I don’t know if it was a typing error, but it’s a great one in this case.

Mono Japan 2018 – Japanese Craft and design exhibition

Yesterday we went to Mono Japan, a little exhibition with Japanese craft, design and art. The exhibition is held from 15 Februari until 19 Februari 2018 in the Lloyd Hotel & Cultural Embassy in Amsterdam, of which the 19th is on invitation only. We thought we could go quick on Friday around 13.00, but that was a little problem. We were already a little late and right before the bridge of Gorinchem we stood still for more than an hour. An accident has happened on the bridge and a little bit further on the A27 there was also an accident. But after 1,5 hour delay we finally arrived at the Lloyd hotel.

Pop’s place, where you can eat delicious local food in Curacao

Driving around on Curacao with a friend of us, he gave us the tip to have lunch or dinner at Pop’s place. He knows that we like Surinamese food, so he thought that we would like the food from Curacao too. On the 2nd of January we went to the restaurant to see of they were open, but they were not. Two days later they were open, so we went there to have lunch.

Fish restaurant Purunchi Koredor Curacao

The pro of having family on the island is that they take you sometimes to the nicest places and restaurants of the island. Last week the niece of Martin’s mother brought us to some great beaches on the western side of the island. Last Saturday we went with her to a really nice fish restaurant in Willemstad, named Purunchi Koredor.

Koko’s Beach on Jan Thiel baai, Curacao

On Jan Thiel beach, Curacao you can find this idyllic part of the beach near Koko’s beach. I think it’s new or recently renovated by Chogogo resort, which is close to this part of the beach. It looks great and is very quiet, and nothing better if you’re on a tropical island than to have a great topical beach on the other side of the street.

Hotspot: Restaurant Elements, Cala Benirras Ibiza

On Ibiza you have so many nice restaurants, some in the little villages or in Eivissa city and some on the beach. When we visited Cala Benirras, to see the famous drum players (see my blog about the drum players on Goodlives), we were too early. We thought too early in the season, but later we found out too early for sunset;-). So we decided to have some dinner on the beach at restaurant Elements. Read further about this restaurant.

Hotspot: Amante beach club Ibiza

M.’s brother and his wife tried to go to Amante beach club twice, and both of the times it was closed because of a wedding or a party or something. It made me curious about the beach club Amante in Ibiza. They say this is a hidden spot, very nice and with a beautiful view on the bay of Sol d’en Serra. So with our third visit to Ibiza, it was high on our to do list. Do you also want to see more of this beautiful spot? Read further

Cala Benirras – Drum Players

Every Sunday, at least during tourist season, the (hippie) drum players come to Cala Benirras. Cala Benirras is a beautiful beach in the North of Ibiza around 3 km North of the Port of Sant Miquel. On other days this beach is quiet, but on Sundays it’s full of people, specially around sunset. Read further about the drum players

Hot Spot: The Harbour Club Ibiza

Edit: Unfortunately The Harbour Club Ibiza is closed since Summer 2016. Their sister club next to the Harbour club is still open, but we haven’t been there yet

Two years ago, our first time to Ibiza, I received a list with hotspots from one of my colleagues, Lilly. She is a regular visitor of Ibiza and she nows a lot of nice hotspots on Ibiza. Always nice to have such colleagues;-).
One of the hotspots on the list was the Harbour Club Ibiza. She told us that they just opened and that the son of one of her friends was the new manager there. We had a busy time on the island, saw a lot of nice places, and vacation was almost over. So on one of the last days I said to M. that there was a hotspot left on the list of Lilly that I wanted to visit for dinner. The Harbour Club Ibiza is one of the restaurants of the Harbour Club group. Read more about this hotspot.

Hotspot: Bazar Rotterdam

Yesterday we went with friends to the baseball movie “Boys of Summer” in Rotterdam, at least we thought it was a movie but it turned out to be a documentary about young baseball players in Curacao. The tickets were free because Bailey Lights is sponsoring the WPT in Rotterdam, that’s why we went to that movie in the first place. For me the movie was boring and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who isn’t really interested in Baseball. After the movie we were looking for a restaurant in the neighborhood and we found restaurant Bazar Rotterdam on the Witte de Withstraat 16. One of our friends checked the internet for reviews and it was nr 33 on the top 500 restaurant list of TripAdvisor in Rotterdam. So that must be a good one then. But first need to find some seats. The problem was that it was Friday night, which is normally busy, we didn’t make a reservation and because of the first really good spring day, it was also extra busy on the streets. But we were lucky, in the basement they had a table for four, so “strike”..;-) (to stay in the baseball language).
