Cocktail Friday: a Gin Tonic with Hendrick’s Gin

Yesterday we were at a sponsor drink from the Wold Port tournament in Rotterdam. The WPT is a baseball event in July, and since M. is a big baseball fan, and also sponsors the event, we were invited for the drinks, bbq and the baseball game. When we arrived, we got a Gin Tonic as welcome drink, a G&T mojito style. I made a picture of it for Cakes and Pumps, for the #100daysof_summer on instagram that I joined. And one of the comments was if it was a Hendrick’s Gin. I honestly didn’t know and never drunk that special Gin. But by coincident I ordered that Gin last week. So I knew right away that would be the cocktail for Cocktail Friday. Read further for the Gin cocktail.

Cocktail Friday: a Cosmopolitan

This Cocktail Friday’s cocktail became famous when Carrie Bradshaw started drinking this cocktail in Sex and the City. I watched a lot of episodes from Sex and the City, but it never made me drink a Cosmopolitan, which I regret now, because this cocktail is a goooooooood!!!  It’s fresh because of the lime and sweet by the Cranberry. Cocktail Friday: a Pina Colada

It’s weeeeeeeeeekend and Cocktail Friday again. This time I have chosen a Pina Colada .
I love those Pina Coladas! And not the ready made Pina Coladas out of a bottle, but selfmade Pina Cola. When I’m writing this blog, I’m zipping on the Pina Cola that I just photographed for this Blog post. Normally we always pretaste the cocktails the night before Cocktail Friday, but yesterday we were very busy with working on my atelier. So I had to taste this one on my own tonight. But this is a golden oldie for us, so I know allready that this one is one of M.’s favourites too. Read more for the Recipe.

Cocktail Friday: a Caribbean Blue

Yesssssss it’s Cocktail Friday again, that means the weekend is about to start.
Last Monday we came back from our super vacation in Ibiza with M.’s family. We really had a great time, visited nice places, eating a lot of good food and enjoying a lot of Sangria;-).
Next couple of weeks I will write some blogs about the food hotspots we visited in Ibiza. In the meantime you can read on cakes and Pumps the review that I wrote about the house la Primavera we stayed in. The article was a little bit more work then I expected, so no food blog appeared on Cakes and Pumps this week.
But I try to make it up to you with this nice Blue cocktail, a Caribbean Blue, find the recipe below.

Cocktail Friday: a Mai Tai

Last week we had the Mojito for Cocktail Friday, this Friday we drink a Mai Tai. A Mai Tai is also a cocktail that you drink with rum. Haha you can easily see that I prefer rum as cocktail mixing drink;-). But the next cocktail will be one without rum, I promiss.
In a Mai Tai you put white and brown rum, but for the rest you have many different versions of the Mai Tai.

Cocktail Friday: an Orange Plantation

Weekend and time for Cocktail Friday!
Since it’s almost Kingsday here in Holland (Monday 27th of April), I wanted to mix an orange cocktail this time. With a little search in one of my Mix books, I found an Orange Plantation. Wednesday all the bottles for this Cocktail Friday came in and yesterday we pre-tested the cocktail.
I expected the Dry Orange to be a little more orange, so a little bit disappointed, since I wanted to make an orange one and it looks a little bit more brownish now.

Cocktail Friday: a Mojito

Cocktail Friday with a Mojito is a good start of the weekend. When I was in my twenties I used to drink Rum-cola’s (or Cuba Libres if you prefer that name) if I drunk a cocktail. A Mojito wasn’t popular at all in Holland. I don’t know exactly when I drunk this cocktail for the first time, I think somewhere in 2009 just before we went for a vacation to Brasil, the land of the Caiparinha’s. Rum is one of my favorite mixing drinks, so the Mojito easily became one of the more often made or ordered cocktails.

Cocktail Friday: a Hugo cocktail

Yoehoe, it’s weekend. Time for the first cocktail that I move from Photos for Foodies to cakesandpumps.com’s Cocktail Friday. I wrote this post with the summer in my mind and I made this nice Hugo cocktail. But who cares, this cocktail is also great in autumn or winter
You can buy a Hugo cocktail in bottles. Some of them are ok, but nothing beats a nice homemade cocktail.
For the kind of Hugo cocktail that I like, you need Prosecco, Sodawater, Elder Flower Liquor and Martini Bianco. Most people don’t make the Hugo with Martini, but it gives a nice flavor, so just try it!

The sizes of the ingredients in the recipes are in parts. When I make this cocktail, I use a water jug to fill instead of a glass. That’s much easier, then making it immediately in a glass, specially since most of the time we drink more than one glass;-)

Yellow en white striped Spring shoes

This weekend my new shoes arrived. As some of you know, I’m really a shoe addict. Haha just like a lot of other women in this world. I think with all my pumps, flip-flops, sneakers, heels, boots and other kind of shoes, I’m at least over 100 pair (haha I will not tell you exactly how much otherwise M. will go crazy;-)).
100 pair sounds like a lot, but it’s not making me the Imelda Marcos of Holland, who had more then 4.000 pair of shoes. I’m also very selective in what kind of style I buy, so I don’t have 4 pair of black pumps in my closet, but diverse in colors and style. Next to that, I buy good ones, which can be used for many years and are good for my feet. The nice thing about having so many shoes is that you can keep them quit neat because I don’t wear them all the time.
