Groeten en Fruit – Asis Fruitswagen in Curacao

It’s been some time since I made a Blogpost about Curacao, while I do have a lot more to show you of the island, where we’ve been and what great places they have to eat. So it’s time to write some more Blogposts.
Every day when we drove back to our appartment at Jan Thiel baai, we came by this funny fruit wagon, called Asis Fruitswagen. It has this funny thing on it with Groeten en Fruit. Whiche means Greetings and Fruit. But in Dutch you see a lot Groenten en Fruit (so with an extra n at Groeten, and then it means vegetables). I don’t know if it was a typing error, but it’s a great one in this case.

We didn’t know for sure if you could only buy vegetables and fruit, or that it was also possible to drink something.
On one of our last days I wanted to give it a try and stop buy Asis fruitwagen. To find out that it was closed. Since a couple of days a big crisis started with Venezuela about Fruit from Venezuela coming to Curacao, what the president of Venezuela didn’t want anymore. So in a couple of days only a little fruit was left on the island.
But the next day Asis was open again, so on the breaks to see if we could get some drinks and fruit.

It turned out that he had fresh smoothies, but also delicious fresh coconut water. The coconut is cut open, a straw in it and you can drink it.

And there was also cocnut icecream on the menu. I wanted to try that one. In a cleaned cocnut I got my coconut icecream served.
This was sooooooo good, long time ago that I had such delicious coconut icecream. The Larsman didn’t like it at all, so Martin was lucky to have the icecream next to his coconut water.

The little shop with the funny name Groeten en Fruit on it, is called Asis fruitswagen and is runned by the Venezuelan Guzman.
Next to the fruitshop, which is a converted sea container, Guzman made some seats out of pallet, all painted purple. So you can’t miss these purple seats when you drive on the Caracasbaai. If you see those, you definitely know that you’re in the right place.
